Disclaimer: as of 02.12.2025, you can't order 10-OH-HHC (also known as 10-OH) in Germany. So, if you are from Germany and seek ways to relax with cannabis, Nine Realms recommends T9HC as an alternative cannabinoid – Different name, same relaxation.
10-OH-HHC (10-Hydroxy-HHC) is a semi synthetic cannabinoid that is an HHC derivative. It has very similar effects and comes in different consumption methods.
It rose to prominence for a simple reason. As one European country after another restricted hexahydrocannabinol, 10-OH HHC arrived as the closest thing to it. That window has narrowed a lot since. Regulations now differ sharply from country to country, and Germany has closed it entirely (see the disclaimer above and the legal section below).
You'll also see it written as 10 OH HHC, 10 HC, 10hc or simply 10-OH. Same cannabinoid, different shorthand.
At Nine Realms you'll find 10-OH-HHC across our full product range. Fresh flowers, gummies, diffusers, hash. All of it laboratory-tested for verified potency and shipped discreetly.
The route runs through three stages, and it starts somewhere most people don't expect. CBD:
The interesting part is stage three. That oxidation happens via cytochrome P450, the same enzyme family found primarily in the liver. So your body already produces some 10-OH-HHC on its own whenever it metabolises HHC. That's why you'll often see it described as an HHC metabolite and not a separate compound.
Chemically, the difference from HHC is one hydroxyl group (-OH) attached to the tenth carbon atom of the molecule. Hence the name.
10-OH-HHC does occur naturally in the
cannabis plant, but only in trace amounts. Essentially everything on the market
is made semi-synthetically. Some manufacturers also use terpenes or synthetic gastric fluids in the process.
Short version: thinner than you'd like, but older than you'd think.
1980. 10-Hydroxy-Hexahydrocannabinol is first documented. A team led by Raphael Mechoulam, the same researcher who first isolated THC, identifies the compound and studies its effects in rhesus monkeys. Even then it's clear the compound can produce psychoactive effects.
Then it goes quiet for decades.
2015. Researchers at the University of Mississippi, led by Professor A. Ahmed, obtain a pure form of 10-OH-HHC. That opens the door to studying its properties properly.
Today the evidence base is still limited. Anyone presenting confident specifics about 10-OH-HHC is going beyond what the research supports. We went through what's actually known in our full safety write-up.
Like other cannabinoids, 10-OH-HHC interacts with the endocannabinoid system, specifically the CB1 and CB2 receptors. That added hydroxyl group changes how the molecule binds. Its effects can differ from HHC's as a result.
Users typically describe a psychoactive, relaxing experience broadly comparable to THC. Intensity and duration depend
heavily on amount, tolerance and consumption method.
Possible side effects, stated plainly:
Worth being clear about: this reflects limited research and anecdotal reports, not comprehensive clinical study. There's a longer breakdown of the side effects if you want the detail.
There's no official dosing guidance. The research isn't there to support one. What holds up regardless:
Dull advice. Also the only advice that holds when the data is thin. If you want the numbers side, we cover it in our dosage guide.
The question people ask most about this cannabinoid, answered honestly instead of with a marketing multiplier:

10-OH-HHC Flowers
CBD flower infused with the cannabinoid.
Fast onset when smoked, with the same respiratory considerations as smoking
anything. GELATO X 30% is a solid starting strain if
you're new to the format.
Extract in pressed form. More compact and
usually more concentrated than flower. PIATELLA HASH sits at the top of that range.
10-OH-HHC Diffusers and Liquid
Ready-to-use diffusers. With fast
onset. Long-term effects of diffusing cannabinoids are not well understood. The CLASSIC Diffuser is the middle option.
10-OH-HHC Gummies and Edibles
Dosed per piece, no smoke, no smell. The
trade-off is predictability. Onset takes considerably longer and intensity varies, and that combination causes most accidental over-consumption. Start with LIGHT Gummies if you haven't had these treats before.
10-OH-HHC Pre-Rolls
Ready to go, no preparation. CLASSIC PRE-ROLLS are the standard pick.
The short answer for Germany: no, 10-OH-HHC is no longer freely available there.
The background: 10-OH-HHC belongs to a group of semi-synthetic cannabinoid derivatives that initially fell outside narcotics legislation. An amendment to the annex of the New Psychoactive Substances Act (NpSG) widened its scope to cover structurally related cannabinoids including 10-OH-HHC, making manufacture, trade and placing on the market prohibited.
Elsewhere the picture varies country by country. Some jurisdictions that restricted HHC extended the same treatment to 10-OH-HHC; others haven't regulated it. Always check the rules where you live before ordering. We keep a country-by-country legality overview updated.
This is not legal advice. The applicable law at any given time takes precedence.
We know everyone needs different power levels. That's why we have LIGHT, CLASSIC, and PRO for all our cannabinoid products.
These labels are on flowers, diffusers, joints, and gummies. Choose the right strength for your mood. Whether you're starting slow or going big.
New to 10-OH-HHC specifically? Start at LIGHT regardless of your usual tolerance with other cannabinoids. Potency doesn't transfer between cannabinoids.
When you order hydroxylated HHC from a certified seller or head to the nearest 10-OH-HHC store, you can be sure that you are getting the best quality for the price you pay. With excellent service and different payment options, you can even order cannabinoids on account.
Always aim for laboratory-tested products, as they are more likely to have a long-lasting aroma, pleasant fragrance, and accurate potency. This is everything you need for an enjoyable cannabis experience!
Before you stack your basket full with HHC 10 OH products, double-check your country's laws to avoid legal troubles.
And if you are ready to begin your cannabinoid wellness journey, check out the Nine Realms 10 OH HHC collection!
Yes, it is known to have similar effects to HHC. The difference is that 10-HC is more potent and has a longer-lasting effect.
There are different consumption methods, but cannabis lovers find it convenient to stick with the big 3: smoking flower, diffusing, and eating edibles. We compare them in our consumption methods guide.
10-HC most likely will show up on a drug test because it has a similar chemical structure to THC.
Legality varies by country. Some countries that banned HHC also restricts 10-OH-HHC; others have not regulated it. In Germany, 10 OH-HHC has not been freely available since 02.12.2025. Always check your local laws before ordering.
Overall, it is safe for consumption and relaxation. However, due to limited long term research, we advise purchasing only authorized 10-OH-HHC products that have undergone third-party lab testing.
A semi-synthetic cannabinoid, 10-Hydroxy Hexahydrocannabinol, formed by oxidising HHC.
Yes. 10-HC, 10HC, and 10-OH are all common shorthand for the same cannabinoid.
CBD is hydrogenated into HHC, and HHC is then oxidised into 10-OH-HHC. The enzyme cytochrome P450 is involved, the same one your liver uses to metabolise HHC.
Since 1980, when it was identified by a team led by Raphael Mechoulam. A pure form wasn't isolated until 2015, at the University of Mississippi.
